The last week has been a bit rubbish to say the least. Still, I have survived with my health mostly intact, although I’m not sure how, and I’ve managed to finish Halo 4. On the hobby front, little has actually happened, but there is a couple of things in the works…
At the beginning of September SPIF has a small 35 point Warmachine/Hordes tournament. So far in the last year the guys have organised three of these, and I’ve missed them all, but I have a day pass from the boss this time. The irony is of course, I have been playing 50 point games for the last couple of months so things seem to be missing from every 35 point list I try to write.
At the moment I think I’m going to take Kaelyssa, because she’s the Retribution caster I have the most game time with, and Ravyn. While I suspect my Kaelyssa list will be exactly the same as the one I took to Malmö earlier this year, I think I’m going to do something a bit different with Ravyn because I want to use her with Invictors and the Hyperion.
Plus I also (finally) have a (fully painted) unit of Houseguard Halberdiers to try out. At last, a jamming unit for my Retribution. That will be different.
At last, a jamming unit for my Retribution
The other design decision for these two lists is the clock. We will be using a standard 42 minute deathclock format, and I’m a slow player at the best of times. This makes smaller armies better, at least for me.
Hopefully next week I will get some time to practice the scenarios and my lists. If none of them work, I might swap in Ossyan, or just switch to Cygnar just to confuse people… starting with me.
Anyway, I will post my final lists and battle reports after the locals have stomped over whatever armies I take.
The other hobby thing this week is that the details for Smogcon have been announced. In previous years, this event has been held at Firestorm Games in Cardiff and has been a purely Warmachine thing.
This year however, they have moved to a bigger venue and have taken on a format not dissmilar to one of the big American gaming conventions. And that bigger venue is the Mandolay Hotel in Guildford.
I like Guildford, so I’m very tempted to go if I can convince the family and my bank account.

Good luck [your call which which one(s) the “good luck” is for] 🙂
