Whoosh!

A very quick blog update today, however this fits nicely with theme of this blog (ok it doesn’t, but we won’t worry about that). Anyway, here’s a picture of a RAF Tornado flying over Derwent Water and Barrowdale in Cumbria; snatched from Catbells.

I have major respect for these pilots who practice their trade blasting down the valleys at very silly speeds.

In a slight detour from the normal toy soldier theme, I thought I’d share my experiences about card protectors. Card what I hear you say!?!

Well, Warmachine uses trading card sized stat cards. On these damage (and other things) are marked off during the game. Great, except you will want to use this stat cards for more than one game.

The obvious solution to this is to encase the card in clear plastic and use a drywipe marker to mark off damage so the cards can be reused.

What More Stars?

Yep, sorry about that, more stars. We had a clear (but very cold) night yesterday so it is was a good opportunity to point the camera to the heavens again. Unfortunately, whilst is was a clear night, the moon was out which wasn’t helpful.

On Orion’s Belt

Amongst other things, I enjoy photography and astronomy; so rather than the normal gaming, this blog post is heading off topic. Sorry.

Just before heading to Canada last year, I picked up a Panasonic G2 Digital 3/4 format SLR camera. This is a little smaller and lighter than a classic SLR and has a digital viewfinder; but apart from that it is pretty similar. Since then, I’ve being meaning to grab a tripod and play around doing some night time photography. Continue reading
